  • If you've approached your previous employer as outlined in your post and they can't help then Universal Credit would be the next option?

On what exact date did your previous employment cease?
If it was after 28/2/20, then you can request that your previous employer re-employ you and then immediately furlough you. Is that what you mean by you 'went back to them'?
However there is no legal obligation for them to offer this, although it will not cost them anything if you remain on 80% of your salary.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Thanks for the reply Im not sure on universal credit but will get on the phone today thanks

Use a benefits calculator to see if you can claim anything. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/ if you then you'll need to claim online, with your partner. Savings/capital of more than £16,000 will exclude you. You won't receive help with your mortgage and will need to speak to your mortgage provider for that.

If you claim tax credits, a claim for UC will end that claim and you can't go back.

If you don't qualify then New style JSA can be claimed if you've paid enough NI contributions.
