O/S Daily Sunday 5 April 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning message.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now light, bright sunny start to the day - we'd turned the heating off but had to put it back on this morning to knock the chill off - it will be turned off shortly again though.
DH watching tv, and I'm enjoying my first cuppa whilst on here, I'll go for a shower in a bit, DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was pizza and pasta - enjoyed by us all. Lunch today will be roast chicken, roasties, mash, carrots, cauli8/broc cheese, swede, green beans, peas, yorkshires . stuffing and gravy.
Yesterday the menfolk got outside and cut the grasses, painted the other side of the fence and did some general tidying in the garden - DH says he wants to give the shed a coat of the LO fence paint - we seem to have loads left. I made a pan of veg soup yesterday I picked up some soup mix that had been reduced to 30p - I couldn't have bought what was in it for that - I had a bowl full wit some bread for lunch yesterday and there's some left - some for me to take to work tomorrow for lunch.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Are you all having a long lie? I've been up for ages but have been happily pottering about, washing on the line and the fridge cleaned and sorted. The only thing I've thrown out is some ketchup (yuck but keep it in for DS1's bacon sandwich) and a little broccoli that looks a bit yellow. There's enough food for a good couple of days so can stay clear of the shops.
It's still quite chilly here this morning but the sun is breaking through, hopefully I can get some of the deck oiled. If it is nice later I can lay on my new sun lounger!
Thinking of you NRA.
Distant hugs to anyone in need.
Oh well, the bathrooms get cleaned next then I can go in the shower and start the day properly. Take care. XX11 -
Morning everyone
Didn't post yesterday, as I had bit of a 'fed up feeling sort of day'. I finished the de-cluttering of my bedroom and went for a walk but just felt like I didn't know what to do. Was annoyed at myself because there's plenty of people a lot worse off than me.
So I'm determined to be in a better frame of mind today. Yesterday did have one happy bit when I chatted to DD and little one in hospital on video chat - it really cheered me up. Little one was shouting and babbling away and kept trying to touch me....I'd love to give her a cuddle but that will be a while away as she's to be sheltered for 12 weeks.
So this morning I'll go down to mam and dads and sit in the garage for a chat....it's my mums 78th birthday today. Also my sister-in-law's 50th - we were all going out for a surprise meal.
I'm going to re-install Skype onto my dad's laptop in the hope that he can manage to work it - DD wants to Skype from the hospital so they can see little one. He had it a few years ago - but there was an incident with a lady in Russia and I took it off his laptop!
It's meant to be sunny and a bit warmer today so I might get some tidying done in the garden this afternoon - or just sit and read! I just hope everyone is sensible and stays in their gardens and don't go out and about just because the weather's nicer.
Have a good day

Thank you nmlc for starting us off.
I can't believe that I appear to be second on the list this morning, although I'm willing to bet that another half a dozen will have appeared before I get to post this.
Another lovely day beckons and we are restricted to our back gardens, or in my case, to the scrubby, neglected patch of broken concrete and weeds that the Estate Agents blurb described as, "Small, easily managed." I'll go along with the "small" but the "easy management" has yet to be proved.
The empty day stretches ahead of me with nothing to do except get my lunch. I think back to the days when my boys were teenagers and I used to come back from church and count the trainers at the foot of the stairs to see how many I was cooking lunch for. Yes, occasionally there was an odd number. The boys were free to come and go as they pleased and I had only one rule, that everyone should be there for Sunday lunch. If any of their friends were there, they were welcome to stay for lunch. 17 was the most I catered for. Most of them were sitting on the floor.
However, these days it's just me, so a chicken breast wrapped in bacon and whatever vegetables I can track down will do.
Enjoy your day.

Morning folks. Not actually in bed, just on the bed surfing around. As most of my family are in different time zones to me we tend to text or speak in the early hours here. In Brisbane it’s nearly 6pm and in Seoul it’s nearly 5pm.The sun looks sets to shine on us all today, such a pity! Those of you with gardens are going to have a lovely time, please spend some time relaxing in them too. I miss my garden tremendously. There are no plans for today. I hope to go out for a walk, it depends on how DM is, she wasn’t too good last night but that’s how she is - good times, bad times come and go. Her visitor was especially careful yesterday, they sat more than six feet apart doing the crossword. They polished off the cryptic one fairly easily and then started on another from earlier in the week. As DM is deaf there was a lot of shouting from her friend from across the room!
My cousin in Münster, whose daughter died recently, sent me a lovely text after my card arrived. She’s so strong yet really hurting inside.Time to rouse myself, it’s motivation I need! 😸
Mr Tickle arms are out - long distance hugs to all. Keep safe and sane. Happy Sunday to everyone.13 -
NRA, Im so sorry to hear your news, please accept my condolences.
Yesterday we had a Zoom call with the family, plus sister-in-law, her son and family and an elderly couple aren't really related but have become family over the years (she was married to Steve's second cousin). It was lovely to see everyone but a bit difficult to chat among ourselves so the conversation was dominated by a couple of people really.
My hayfever has really kicked in this morning and I seem to have a bit of an eye infection but that is nothing in the scheme of things, I only mention it for something to write otherwise I might as well cut and paste my days atm. I hav removed a duck from the freezer for dinner, it will be something different.

Bright and sunny here again, it was lovely yesterday we spent a lot of time in the garden with a walk over the fields. Onto today I have a wash on the go which will be hung out later and I will have a quick sweep through, it was hoovered yesterday so just needs going over.
Today I might use my exercise hour to go on a bike ride locally I need to get a bit fitter for my op and although I walk everyday this does not get my heart rate up so thought I would try a cycle.
Our pressure washer has not turned up yet its expected anytime up till Tuesday I am longing for it to arrive I have a list of things in my head to clean !!
Roast lamb for dinner tonight with roasties and veg will do enough for tomorrow too.
Right I need some toast and marmite, have good days all and stay safe xx10 -
Morning all, just a quick pop in as we're waiting for 2 food deliveries. Asda 10-12 and Iceland 2-5. We will see what they bring and perhaps between them I can make a whole shop for us and Dad. Hopefully with those and what we have in, we can have enough food to last a month. I always used to shop monthly and just topped up with fresh stuff when Mr Fix It was working in the city. His working hours weren't bad it was just the journey times, 1/12 hrs each way in heavy traffic up the M4 and that made it 12hr days. We have set up the washing/cleaning station in the garden and luckily it's dry, but it's blummin cold ! Hopefully the sun will make an appearance at some point, it is trying it's hardest at the moment but the clouds are ganging up on him.I rang Dad last night and I think I made a breakthrough about the food situation, I was trying to forewarn him that we may not get everything on the list. He said that beggars can't be choosers so perhaps he is beginning to understand....... we'll see when I deliver whatever we get tomorrow.Hope everyone has a good Sunday ( I thought it was Easter Sunday and even told the DGS that he will be able to eat his egg
)Take care and hugs to allnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14 -
dp1 Please say Happy Birthday to the girlies.Monna when I read about you counting the trainers and you sometimes had an odd one, I thought you meant shoes not boys
Silly me ! Did make me giggle though.nanFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
Morning all
Weather proving a bit disappointing here looks nice first thing thing then the clouds visit....how rude they should stay at home.
Usual exciting day planned you know the one full english brekky with nothing missing, stroll to the pub for a few scoops with friends then home with everyone for a bbq and a late night music and dancing session..........OR I may opt for doing nothing
Hoping at least there will be a bit of sun later for a bit of body work grief I am grim looking now the shorts are out. I do not suit whiteish green for sure
Talking of shorts I realised my summer wear choices were looking pretty jaded and mostly around 10 years old so I broke my rule of no buying with all thats going on and bought myself a new sun dress and a cheeky yellow playsuit for if and when the sun does arrive. Both from a supermarket and using a voucher I had from said supermarket so it was effectively free shopping.
I like a Sunday always have so today will only be filled with things that I enjoy and the news can can jog on for a day. Stay safe all and try to enjoy your days too12
