Whilst waiting to hear if I'm being furloughed can I claim universal credit

Options
So my boss has said his accountant is going to apply for us to be furloughed, however the government site isn't ready yet, so my question is, can I claim universal credit whilst waiting to hear if I can be furloughed? I cant find the answer to this anywhere .
Thankyou

Just to add to this, as my partner is being paid 80% as furlough and however his company is going to claim this back. I only work for a small company and my employer cant afford to pay me whilst we are not working, which is why I'm trying to find out if I can claim unversal credit whilst I'm waiting for furlough money.

Yes you can. Both you and your partner would have to claim as entitlement is based on joint circumstances. UC is calculated monthly and takes into account any earnings received by yourself and your partner.

There are online calculators to help you assess entitlement  https://www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators

Be aware that claiming UC will end any Tax Credits, Housing Benefit or other means tested benefits you currently get.

You will be excluded from UC if you have savings over £16,000.

Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.

Yes. If you are entitled to benefits, you will get them.

There is a benefits checker in my signature.
