I have been served my notice of redundancy and my last day of employment will fall in the 1st of May. would I still qualify for the furlough payment as I have been made redundant during the covid-19 outbreak but not because of the covid-19 outbreak. There for it would be very difficult to find new employment currently.

Your employer has to apply for the scheme, and could not claim you were furloughed due to coronavirus as you weren't.1

I'm in a similar situation. Martin Lewis did a very good video on this topic (search YouTube for 'martin lewis advice for employees') basically irrespective of whether the reason was Covid-19 it's worth speaking with your employer. If you don't ask you don't get. Good luck.0
