Barclaycard App incompatible with iPhone 5 and older devices

in Credit cards
If you were thinking of getting a new credit card and like to manage and monitor your card using your phone, you need to cross Barclaycard off your list. Apparently Barclays have replaced previous Apps with a single App which covers all Barclays personal accounts and credit cards. This is feature-heavy and incompatible with iPhone 5 (or earlier). This is not related to the version of iOS. On-line Barclaycard say you must have iOS v9.3 or above. No problem I thought for my iPhone5 on iOS 10.3.4 but when I got on the App Store it says "Barclaycard is not compatible with this device". Nothing on line about this, so I rang Barclays support and was advised that Barclaycard are not supporting older devices! Shame on them!. I have Lloyds and Santander Apps working fine on my phone

How annoying! I have this app working well on my iPhone 5S.On a related note, the Fidelity website will not work with my PC running on Windows 7. Infuriating.0

Bit unfair to pick on Barclaycard. As many financial institutions do not support older phones & Operating systems.
And why not. Many of these these are no longer supported for security upgrades or simply do not support the features that apps require.Life in the slow lane2 -
The problem is Apple and Windows are no longer providing security updates for these older operating systems which leaves them vulnerable to hackers.
If you got hacked you would blame them for allowing the app to run on outdated vulnerable systems so they simply have no choice for security reasons. it makes a lot of sense when you think about it.0
