I booked a hotel room using a debit card, the hotel room was non-refundable.  Do I have any recourse as I did not use a credit card?

Don't hotels give you the choice to book a refundable ( usually costs more) or non refundable saver rate?

    Who with?

I have heard that one chain (can't remember who) has made the decision that previous non refundable bookings can now be either changed or re-booked.

So I would give the hotel a call 1st and see what their policy is.
Other than them refunding you, there is nothing your bank can do, even if you used a credit card. They are not a get a refund because I cancelled card.

No, not unless the hotel wants to make a gesture of goodwill.

You chose to book a presumably cheaper non-refundable room. You gambled and this time you lost. Sorry!

Can you still not make use of the room, a small  mini break maybe.
