If you paid for a holiday on a credit card and it then goes down in price are you protected by price protection like you would be for buying a TV for example?

No,
Where do you get the idea you are protected pricewise if a price goes down...
You arent, simple as thatmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.3 -
No. But you're protected from paying more if the price goes up.
Though that applies however you paid...7 -
I remember the bad old days when you had paid for your holiday in full and it was legal for them to ask for more money due to rising oil prices!2

There are lots of companies that offer a 'Price Matching' guarantee. Just google 'Price Matching' and you get lots of companies listed. Never heard of a travel agent or tour operator making the same offer though. I do remember holiday companies asking for extra money when oil prices increased.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

Golden rule.
Do research. Decide what you think is good value and that you are willing to pay. Book holiday. Stop checking prices on tinternet. It won't achieve anything aside from annoy you if the cost has gone down. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.4
