Employment - vouchers

in Cutting tax
My daughter does a sales type of job, they are paid for extra sales in Asda vouchers.
I would have thought the same amount of tax would need to be paid, so I cannot see the advantage of paying in vouchers.
I have ended up exchanging some for cash. So it's quite restrictive. But where is the advantage for the employers?

perhaps the employer buys them at a discount to face value?
Do you have a particular concern or are you just wondering?
if you have actually exchanged them for cash, then there are very specific rules covering the tax treatment because they are, as you imply, effectively no different to a pay rise and resultant tax on said higher salary
