in Credit cards
I spotted fraudulent activity on my account on 17 January; it was clear that my email address had been compromised with 2 cash payments of £50 and £70 being taken so I changed the associated email address and asked for Paypal to contact me by telephone to update me regarding their enquiries. I was told that this would take up to 48 hours. No-one contacted me however. I was subsequently unable to log into my account. Given the obvious fraudulent activity, I asked for my account to be suspended. I was alarmed then to discover on 2 February that there had been a number of transactions on my account since that time...notably multiple Uber transactions. I did not make any transactions myself since 17 January. Then from 2 February there were a number of transactions for large amounts of money which has been hugely alarming and clearly stressful. I have spent several hours on the telephone since this time attempting to dispute these transactions and to secure my account. Despite asking for cards to be removed etc, when I subsequently noticed further transactions to have been made and called Paypal, I have discovered that cards were still registered and that the account hadnt been locked etc. It is clear that I have not authorised any payments since 17 January from my telephone conversations yet further payments appear to have been made. I have cancelled my credit card (Tesco) and my current account card with Barclays. Customer service has generally been appalling as each time I am told that the account isn't locked...cards not removed etc. They have informed me that I cant close the account as long as transactions are being disputed but this leaves me open to further fraud. The best I can do is lock the account but this means I cant log in to monitor what is happening. I have been able to log a complaint today but I am anticipating further fraudulent activity. It appears that the recent transactions are through a paypal credit arrangement which I didn't even know I had and has amounted to about £10k since the weekend. Most grateful for any help
