Hi all,
I have been working for my current employer for the past 2 years and every year I'm receiving letters from HMRC saying that I haven't paid enough tax so therefor my tax code is changing.
I also received the same letter when I was at my previous company for 2 years so 4 years running now I am receiving a letter from HMRC .
The HR department doesn't seem to be interested so I thought I'd ask on here and see if someone can offer me some advice on where I can go to make sure I am on the right tax code and not paying too much as right now I am paying £440 per month tax and £200 NI on a £29,300 per year salary.

so what code are you on?
Its based on your personal circumstances. Your employer does not know what your personal circumstances are. Things like marriage allowances, expense allowances, repayment codes, emergency codes all make a difference to what an individual might owe in tax.
You need to speak to HMRC. On the face of it youre paying too much tax, your NI is about right. Youre not getting much if anything of a tax free allowance. This could be due to having an increased code to cover arrears from previous years so could be right.
Speak to HMRC and they should be able to clarify everything for you. Tel: 0300 200 3300
I'm on tax code 199L
Is that the same code your employer us using?
No other income. I have a company car yes and pay the lowest % for pension.
