Money Savers Arms

Last ooorders!… We’re sorry but for now, due to resources, we need to close the Money Savers Arms including Discussion Time.

It’s not easy to write this. We love the forum, but we also have a job to do to protect it, our users and MoneySavingExpert, and at the moment, with all our resources focused on Coronavirus information, and all the team at home, we don’t feel we have the resources to do a good enough job.

For four months, we’ve been struggling to cope with the huge volumes of messages we’ve been getting from Forumites – many of whom are in desperate and dire straits with their finances. The team have been working all hours to try and keep on top of it. At first we thought it’d be a short sharp spike, but it isn’t, it’s continuing, so we have had some difficult choices to make about prioritisation.

Unfortunately in, and likely because of, these stressful times, the Forum team have also been receiving an increasing number of complaints about posts made on the Money Savers Arms and Discussion Time. The team have done what they can to try and walk the tightrope of balancing all the various interests, but for now we need to draw a line under this and temporarily close this Board, so we can keep the key, MoneySaving boards – where people are supporting each other through this crisis - running smoothly.

We know this board is important to you, but as the MSE stance has been forbearance throughout this crisis, now we ask that of you. We’re sorry. Of course you can post on other boards, but we’d ask you to stick to the subjects of those boards, and not use them as a surrogate Money Savers Arms or Discussion Time. And as always please be kind and friendly to each other, especially any newbies.

Thanks
MSE Forum Team

A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

Several designer brands including Givenchy have already approached Meghan.

But will they still be interested when she's not really a member of the Royal Family?
I don't think her role in whatever programme she was in was such high profile.

I am reminded of the fuss when the Beatles split and the opprobrium which was poured on the head of Yoko Ono, who was an independent artist in her own right, freethinking, foreign and not white - also older. She was able to show an unhappy John Lennon that he could get off the wheel and do his own thing - he had the money and simply needed so see outside possibilities. Perhaps Meghan, an independent actress in her own right is providing a similar pathway for Harry?
Personally I think they have been treated shabbily by the various media and that it has gone way beyond routine criticism with very uncomfortable over and under tones of racism and misogyny.

Im possibly a tad too young to remember the split of the Beetles. Yes I remember it being in the News and the John and Yoko demonstrations, but just a tad too young for it to mean anything to me

I saw the John and Yoko Exhibition in Liverpool last year and I referred to it as the Yoko and John Exhibition. It showed her in a completely different light then which the British media had portrayed her. I honestly do think John found his soul mate in her and she allowed that man to fly.

Maybe Meghan is the person who allows Harry to become the man he needs to be?
  • Perhaps they should think about paying us back the income they received to refurbish the house. The royals are a bunch of !!!!!!!!!!s anyway, no offence lol

Harry and Meghan didn't receive any income to refurbish Frogmore Cottage.

And you didn't pay anything towards the refurbishment.

Ghastly woman and could never understand what John Lennon saw in her - no talent whatsoever, just really really weird. Such a shame that he was besotted with her:(

If she loved him so much why did she encourage him to have a two year affair with May Pang? She also treated Julian dreadfully and wouldn't even let him speak to his father; she acted like Sean was his only child. Must have been heartbreaking for poor Cynthia.
Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time

The Queen gave them the cottage, the tax payers of this Country paid the 2.4 Million pounds it cost to refurbish it.

And the revenue from the Crown Estates, which is the source of the Sovereign Grant, gave "the taxpayers" considerably more than that £2.4M.

The "slimming down" of the royal family explains rather a lot. It explains the split between William & Harry. After all William had been part of the discussions (as indeed his own father had) that led to Harry basically losing the day job. It explains why they have decided to do their own thing, after all they were no longer to be included as part of that slimmed down "firm". What on earth were they supposed to do? Meghan certainly doesn't seem to be the type who would sit there & wait to be excluded. Personally I think that Harry being sidelined was more because William doesn't like the competition.
