New Kitchen - Extractor switch location advice

Hi All

Just had our kitchen done by wickes and my dad realised that the switch for the extractor is fully boxed in. I've attached a link to this. x being the location of current switch and Y is where I think it should be.

Just thinking ahead really, if the extractor trips the fuseboard, we can't switch the extractor off - we had a switch in our old kitchen (done by Wickes). Is it unreasonable for me to ask them to come back to relocate it at Y? Thanks

Wouldn't put a switch at Y. When I did my extractor, the switch was located next to the s/s steel cover about half way up. For your switch, I'd get them back to hinge the trim panel so that it can be lifted up for access to the switch and any ducting.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

That is poor positioning but what did you agree with Wickes beforehand?

They may want extra payment for extra work.

I appreciate it is too late for you but, when we had a kitchen refit a few years ago, we liaised with the electrician and agreed where all the sockets, switches, light switches, lights etc where to be placed before the old kitchen was removed. He then did the first fix when the old kitchen was removed and before the new kitchen units were fitted and returned and finished off after the new units were in place.

We put all the isolation switches for ovens, hobs, extractor fan, fridge freezer etc on one panel in the utility room next to the kitchen.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".
