Moved into a house and like most houses its got a conservatory on it which we hate.
Anyway looking at extension costs it looks like its going to cost way too much to even consider doing for a long time.
The extra room would be ideal, im just wondering what the best option could be from a money saving idea to make it more like a room.
Im looking into lightweight roofs, plastering the ceiling amongst other options. Its windows all the way round with one set of french doors, sitting on a dwarf wall, the floor is the same height as our house so no need to build the floor up, its seperated from the house by sliding patio doors.

Could i brick any of the dwarf walls up? surely it wouldent weigh more than the double glazing that is already there? Would help keep heat in and allow us to mount a tv on the wall etc.0

I wouldn't recommend it; the foundations are likely the bare minimum. Many people attempt to turn conservatories into 24/7 living spaces, but they're generally on a hiding to nothing. Any money spent on a replacement roof or insulation would be better saved and spent on the eventual extension.
Plasterboarding the ceiling would likely be a terrible idea. The condensate-induced mould would fester, and potentially it could collapse.0 -
I would think a double skin brick or block wall would weigh considerably more than double glazed units, but don't quote me on that.0

Did you not like the answers in your previous thread about lightweight roofs?0

i barely got any replies, hoping for some more feedback or alternative options.0

Wooden stud work with Celotex/Kingspan insulation finished off with plasterboard wouldn't weigh much. In terms of insulation, it would be much more effective than Thermalite blocks and rockwool. That said, you will lose a substantial amount of heat through the windows, so what ever you do with the walls isn't going to help much.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.0 -
You'd better off with what's now called a garden room.
As others have said, deeper foundations needed so start from scratch.
