Oak chairs revitalise

We had a solid oak table and chairs for around 3 years. I noticed this weekend that some of the finish of the chairs has gone a little patchy in places (hopefully the pics show it up). Its like the finish has been removed. They do get quite a bit of sunlight, but we try to rotate them around. The wife does occasional put wet clothes over the back (which she will now stop!). does anyone know if either of those two things may have causes the problem and how we might recover the finish? I've tried multiple coats of Briwax and it did improve it slightly, but it is still noticeable. The last pick shows the best ones that haven't been affected.

Wet clothes may possibly have caused the problem. Plus that's where you'd handle the chairs.
I strongly recommend Lakeland Orange Oil wood reviver. It's not too expensive, so worth a go. We revived a rather sad looking kitchen in half an hour. It made a huge difference.
