DRP £170 insufficient paid time

hi,
I really need your help.
I've received a letter from DRP saying that they charge me £170 for insufficient paid time. I was shocked by that. I always pay for my parking ticket (to avoid a situation like this) and now I get a fine of £170 because of the overtime (about 15 - 20 minutes)?

I phoned them because I wanted evidence of them and they send me a picture where I went into the car park at 1;36 pm and leaving at 3;11 pm.
What can I do about it? I am currently studying and I don't have the money for such a ridiculous fine as I paid for a parking ticket. They said that if I don't pay then their client Smart Parking ltd, will take court actions against me..... I am scared now.

I remember that I had an appointment with my national insurance number on this day (I still have the letter where my appointment got confirmed). The problem was that I mixed up the address so the car park was 10-15 minutes away (walking) from where I had the appointment. That is the reason why my parking ticket was overtime

I really don't know what to do now. Did someone had the same experience?
I hope that someone can help me.
Thank You!

    It s not a fine.

Debt collectors can safely be ignored. You should never have 'phoned them I hope you didn't give away the driver's identity when you 'phoned.

Have you read the sticky thread for NEWBIES yet? I suspect not considering your comments above.

What happened when you complained to the landowner?

Please complain to your MP about this unregulated scam.

Never phone a scammer as this could end up in court and judges love paper trails.

It is not a fine, it is an invoice from an ex-clamper for compensation for the harm and distress you allegedly caused them when you did what you did, pay them not a penny unless a judge so orders.

In any case £170 is more thaan the law allows, read this

Nine times out of ten of these tickets are scams so consider complaining to your MP.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • I am feeling better now, thank you!!
I didn't know that this is a scammer. I just said if they can give me the full address of where the car was parked but they couldn't give me the whole address and then I said if they have any evidence and then they send me a picture on my email and the man on the phone said that I have got time till the 15th October to pay them.

If I complain to my MP, they do anything about it?
thank you so much for your quick response!!

chances are they wont fix this particular historic problem, but until the MP,s get the MHCLG to issue the new CoP after voting through the PARKING BILL 2019 earlier this year, NOTHING WILL CHANGE

IGNORE DRPL , THEY ARE POWERLESS

Have you appealed to the PPC yet? If not, do so now even though it will be too late to meet the scammers made up deadlines. Use the template in blue from post 1 of the NEWBIES.

Is the address on your vehicle V5 correct and up to date?

Did you get a NTK? If not, and the details on your V5 are correct, complain to the BPA that Not-so-Smart parking have gone straight to debt crawlers without issuing a NTK.

At the moment it is rare for Not-so-Smart to do court, but that could change in the future.

Please answer any other questions you haven't answered.

No, I haven't appealed tp PPC yet. I got my car in February so I am inexperienced to situations like this, what is PPC? Yes the address is correct and up to date.
what is NTK and BPA? I am so sorry that I don't know them. I live in this country for 2 years.

Is a very good question , we wonder that every day

Perhaps things will change when the new Parking bill causes new changes like the Cop the MHCLG are drafting

Until the government clamp down we are left with ridiculous problems that never get sorted in various unregulated industries

    Just Ignore drp

    I still suspect not.
