Help! Please

Hi
My husband and I are paying our debts through step change and have been for the last year, all creditors stopped interest but in the last month my Capital one credit card has started having interest added, I rang them and they said the account is now up to date and to stop interest i would need step change to write to them with my budget and they could start a new plan
step change have sent the budget and asked them to consider stopping interest but they still have charged interest, is their anything i can do? Although my monthly payment from Step change will not cover what they are asking for with the interest added , I am worried because we have never missed a payment with Step change and paying as much as we can afford, the interest is going to lengthen the plan considerably , has any one any ideas please?

    Hi,

Before starting debt management it’s always best to have each account defaulted first, so added interest doesn’t become a problem, this is normally done by non payment, a task made more difficult now your plan has started.
All you can do is write to them explaining it’s unfair for them to treat you differently from someone who is not repaying their indebtedness, they would be defaulted with no further interest added, so why can’t they default you, mark your letter “COMPLAINT” see how you get on.

  • Thank you, I will try that as ringing up doesn't seem to help.
Would like to say this site has been so helpful as would not have known anything about paying off debts without it have paid £10000 off so far but have a long way to go !!
