Parcel Scam?

This is what happened. I came home today (Sunday) and found a small parcel had been delivered by DPD.
I was expecting an Amazon delivery, so I never even read the label, just opened the box, and inside was a pack of dog joint supplements.
I haven't got a dog (now) and didn't order that from anyone.

So then I check the label, thinking I will walk or drive round to whoever may be missing their parcel.

Then I see on the label is a woman's name, which I have never heard of, but my EXACT correct address. Postcode perfect. Only 2 dwellings in my postcode, and I know that woman's name is not the name of my neighbour who shares postcode. No-one else.

I notice on the label that her phone number is on there as part of her contact details obviously given when she ordered. Also is the name of the firm (connected with a major supermarket)
So first I contact the pet supplies firm, to find out if they know why this has been delivered to my address under this unknown name. This is a legit. company who supply pet foods and OTC medicines/supplements etc.
I contact them via their contact details on the website, not via any phone number printed on the label of the package.

They are nice but don't really get my point. They say I can keep the items. The supervisor comes on next email and says that is fine and thanks me for my "honesty".

Meanwhile I call the phone # of this unkown woman. No surprise....no answer. Voicemail only. I leave a voicemail giving no details of mine except obviously my phone #, but saying I have a package addressed to her -dog joint tablets.

No reply. I call back hours later -same story.

I email the company back again and ask if it's possible for them to check if the order was placed using a card in my name (give them name but no other details)

By the way, my card never goes anywhere. I don't lose it, lend it, and it isn't known by anyone. It's always with me.

Of course they say they can't do that and recommend I contact my bank, which I will do tomorrow, though it's a long drive to get there.

The funny thing is, if it was someone who'd got my card details illegally and was going on a shopping spree, surely they would have chosen the most expensive of the 3 options of dog joint supplements as displayed on the pet website? As it was they chose the cheapest, smallest one !
Gosh....if they were that desperate to help their dog I would have been glad to buy those tablets for them as a one off.

So I just wonder if anyone else has had this happen? Recently? Is it a scam, and if so what's intended by it.?

Surely if you need to contact your bank you would ring them?

I have no way of contacting my bank except going there. I tried it once and that was a frustrating useless experience, mostly conducted in pigeon-Urdu.

How long has it been since you moved in to your address? It all sounds very innocent to me and I'm not sure why you're crying foul.

Is the woman's postcode a possible "fat finger" problem? Or possibly drunk in charge of a mobile phone?

I frequently get parcels from ama$on, I've noticed its usually around the time I order something which has my full name & address.

Never appears on my account or payment any payment taken, I've complained numerous times but just receive a generic e-mail apologising and advising me to keep the item.

Always very random items, I took 4 packets of false eyelashes and 3 selfie sticks to the charity shop on Saturday.

Its not a scam.....you've received a parcel that has a mixed up name/address/payment......you tried contacting them with no joy
Keep the item or give away

Surely you can check if your card has been used without going into branch - I generally can see my card activity within less than 1 minute of it happening.
