Over stayed at pub

Hello,

Apparently I over stayed my time recently when I took my mother to lunch at a pub and was issued a fine.

I have been on to the pub and they gave me an email address to complain to. Is this usual?

I won't have to pay it but is this thing usually resolved quickly? I have no experience of this.

Any information would be appreciated.

NEWBIES - HOW TO UPLOAD LINKS TO PHOTOS/SCANS TO MSE

To upload a photo/scan link, you first need to host it on a free photo hosting site (like Dropbox, Imurg or Tinypic), copy the URL, paste it here, but change the http to hxxp and we'll do the conversion. Newbies can't directly upload links to photos/scans until they've a few posts under their belt.

Oh ... and using a phone to browse the site can cause problems.. so please try a laptop/PC

what/who was the phone number ... did they provide a name?

it is probably a PPC scammer who will try to out yourself as the driver.

  • Hello Ralph,

Thanks for your quick response. This issuer is Civil Enforcement Ltd.
I was there but only allowed 2 hours and I was there longer than that but as I say the pub says not to pay it and that some people don't even put their registration number in! At lease I did that but stayed past the allotted time.

the pub is foolish and should have got this cancelled directly with CEL on your behalf

they are also foolish saying ignore it, that leads to court cases and pubs duck out of their responsibilities to their customers , all ignoring it will do is set yourself up for a small claim by MCOL, is that what YOU want ?

the pub should have signs up and ensured that you put the VRM into the IPAD or tablet on the bar etc (happens all the time when I go out to pubs and restaurants these days)

get back onto them and raise holy hell and insist that THEY get it cancelled asap

read the newbies thread and appeal it as KEEPER using the blue text template , unchanged as well

These are not fines, they are private invoices for the damage the PPC alleges they suffered when, allegedly, you breached a contract they allege you had agreed with them, we call them scams. They only need to be paid if a judge so directs,

Nine times out of ten of these tickets are scams so consider complaining to your MP.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully life will become impossible for the worst of these scammers, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • I got a PCN this year after parking in a pub car park, I had just had a bereavement and did not see the new signage.
I put everything in writing and provided evidence that we had eaten there.
The manager of the pub got the PCN cancelled for me.
