Hi
I am PAYE Fully employed and do a 37 hour week. I work form a van all day and have heard a lot of people in my company claiming tax relief or expenses for lunch just on a normal 7am-3pm working day. This seems wrong to me and I don't want to try and do it until I know the rules.
Does anyone know if I can claim for meals?
Thank you

Statutory Instrument SI2017/18 allows one to claim for the foie gras, the chateaubriand, and a choice of either the cheeseboard or desert. A non-vintage Chauteu Margaux with the beef is also fine. But having an aperitif and digestif is frowned upon.
On a serious note, any entitlement to reimbursement will be via your employer. Ask them. They should have a policy on the subsistence payments that are permitted, and the evidence you need to supply."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0
