I am a bit late posting but I want to heap massive priase here.
You introduced me to Lloret de Mar for £139 including meals (2003, Savoy Hotel)
I got to see Turkey the next year. The following year Alcudia.
You all made me feel special for a week. I will never forget that.
So sad to see you go and I wish I had said thank you before now.

The "competitive" pricing is probably what's underpinned the problems ... they've tried to retain the same level of customer experience but haven't recouped enough to cover the costs.0

In conjunction with not moving with the times eg not closing enough or all of the shops and just going online, there were reports they wanted to offload the cruise division of TC to Fosun which would have released some funds, how long the funds would have lasted is anyone's guess.0 -
Personally I'd always found Thomas Cook to be expensive, coupled with a pretty mediocre choice of hotels.
The website made it difficult to search for a holiday, especially since they seemed to intermingle TC packages with flights from other airlines which may or may not include bags, and sometimes giving transfers while other times not - you never knew quite what a search was actually giving you.
Similarly their kids clubs - it seemed to be hit and miss as to what hotels included their own kids clubs, and almost impossible to find out details about them.
For many reasons it's a shame that they've gone, but its really not a surprise.0 -
People keep stealing air conditioning too - which hasn’t helped0

"People" "Keep" - Who?
If you're alluding to me, I have never used TC. So you couldn't be any more wrong.0 -

Not sure about the last decade but prior to that it was poor decision making. For example they kept running certain lines of business (like tctv) at a huge loss that completely swallowed profits from other lines. They refused to cut their losses because they wanted a presence on every front possible. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
It’s a real shame to see them go - they took me and my partner on some bargain flights (whoops) over the years and we’ve always had good service.
Thoughts are with the crew and employees0
