Hi,
My landlord has asked for proof of benefit so he can claim back for repairs when he has done them. Can he do this as I can find anything about it online?
He hasn't even done the repairs yet I've been with out heating and hot water for 5 days and now they am saying all the pipes need to be taken out and replaced along with the boiler and hes saying its a £1500 job which I don't believe I think he wants to raise the rent.
Should I give him evidence of my benefit and allow him to try to claim money for repairs ?

it won't cost you a thing, so why not?
Youre being obstructive for no reason0 -
The landlord has a lot of money off me every month and I don't trust he's doing this for the right reasons. I'm worried it will effect my benefits in the future.2017: Iphone 6s

and he thinks he's gonna get £750 I think they am making the job seem more expensive than what it actually is to get money off the government. Also he wants to wait to get the money before he does repairs this can take weeks if not months.2017: Iphone 6s

If you are getting the benefits required to get the grants he is not getting a lot of money off you, he is getting a lot of money from the govt.
They have set aside money to help landlords who have tenants on benefits to get better heating You want your heating fixed, he would like to make use of the grant. They will check the actual costs, you do not need to worry about the inflation of the cost. I am assuming you are not a qualified heating engineer...

Why do you think it will affect your benefits? Sounds like he's applying for a new boiler grant, which won't cost you a penny. The landlord has a lot of money off me every month and I don't trust he's doing this for the right reasons. I'm worried it will effect my benefits in the future.0 -
Have a look at this, it will tell you everything you need to know. It’s not available to everyone, only those on certain benefits, but there is a checklist on the website.
Boilergrant.org.uk
We got one a few years ago when OH was on Pension Credit and because the LL was very user friendly and the agent was a friend we arranged it all ourselves.
LL was happy because he got a new free boiler and we were happy for the same reason
I hope you don’t have the issue we had though as the company who installed it stopped trading 6 months after it was installed  fortunately it never went wrong0 -
It depends if he is claiming to be you in order to get the grants or just needs a letter as proof that his tenant is in receipt of a qualifying benefit.0
