Beware Ryanair and formfill

Hi I justbooked up flight to spain for my niece only for it to come back in my name, I was furious, rang Ryanair, and they wanted £70 to change name, after some debating, she accepted I had a form fill on my pc and charged me £7, Still a rip off as I had another seat but the person cannot travel, and they wanted £70 to change the name, the flight was only £20 return, cost me a bomb.
Also on one of our previous hols with them they lost my mums handbag, and when they eventually returned it to her at the hotel, it was minus all her spending money. We got no apology or refund, the reason they had her handbag was because she had medication cream in her bag and we had put through our checked bags, so they put her handbag with everything in it, into a ryanair carrier bag and sent it through the luggage hold. It all happened too quick and mum never got chance to get her purse. We arrived in spain to receive our luggage, but no ryanair carrier bag.
Bloody cheap flights are costing me a bomb.

It is costing you £7 more, hardly 'a bomb', for something that is not Ryanair's fault. Many airlines, including more premium ones, would charge you a great deal more.
Ryanair did not lose your mother's handbag, the handling agents did. The only reason that it was in the hold was because your mother did not follow the (well publicised) hand luggage rules.
If you don't like it, why not pay twice as much in the first place and travel with BA (who have a considerably worse baggage handling record), or check what you are typing when making the booking.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Because you didn't take the time to read the facts !
To put a handbag in the hold full of cash is sheer knaevity at it's best. Surely common sense tells you to carry it on your person regardless of whether someone is trying to rush you. As for the 'medication'. Was it prescibed medication ? I suspect not and therefore it shouldn't have been in your hand baggage in the first place. Prescribed medication is permitted in hand baggage.0 -
Honestly, these Ryanair hate posts nowadays yet in this case, it's all just down to individual errors that Ryanair didnt have anything to do with!!
You cant blame them for your own mistake in filling in the form... that could have happend on any airline reservations and no doubt they would have charged you more. Ryanair actually did you a favour by reducing the charges, 'I used an online filling form' is hardly an excuse IMO!
And Ryanair staff wouldnt have touched your luggage after the check in staff put the tag on the luggage. After that, its down to baggage handlers who would have handled other airlines as well.
Ive had no problems whatsoever with low cost carriers and I fly frequently!0 -

So RyanAir don't lose bags. Handling agents do.
BA lose lots of bags, though.
Great consistency, there.0 -
Ryanair employ handling agents to process baggage, the likes of Servisair, Aviance etc they don't use their own staff. BA use their own staff.0

Thanks for that. I thought the logic was just careless. But if RyanAir are choosing not to employ their own baggage handlers and employ an agent, are they still not responsible for luggage going astray?0

What does it matter who uses who to handle the baggage? As far as joe public is concerned, they've paid Ryanair to handle their bags and when they get to the other end they expect to find them intact. If Ryanair choose to outsource that task then that's up to them. However, what they must do is to take reasonable care of your goods.
I see that you have invented a new word "knaevity".0 -
Well done, I see you've managed to correct your own misuse of the English language. For those who didn't notice "Thier" .
Here's one I've not made up Pr..k !!!0 -

I see you've edited too ! I wouldn't disagree with that, was merely pointing out who does what as you seemed to be having a go at DMG. I would still advocate that leaving cash in hold baggage is not responsible.0
