7dayshop.com

With regret, I feel the need to report I am going through some customer service nonsense with 7dayshop.com at the moment.

I ordered some cheap, loose, 9v batteries from them a couple of weeks back (along with some other stuff). They arrived in a Royal Mail 'damage containment' bag and inside was a torn jiffy bag. The batteries (30 of them - lol! don't even ask! ;D) looked like they had been wrapped in plain blue paper - not in a box or anything more substantial - as this was in absolute tatters in the bag. When they described them as 'loose', i.e. not blister-packed, I didn't think they meant quite that loose! ::)

Because the batteries themselves had obviously taken a pounding as they had come loose and were virtually all dented (didn't fancy using dented batteries which I thought thoroughly reasonable) I asked them what to do. They asked me to return them.

This I did, going to the trouble of making a cardboard box to fit them snugly, enclosing a little note with a hard copy of my contact with their customer service person and wrapping it all with plenty of tape so they couldn't distribute themselves across a Royal Mail sorting office once again.

With no contact from them after week or so, I used their web-based message service once again to ask where things were at. Here is how things have gone to date:

Your post : Hi! All good thanks until received the 9V batteries today as the last parcel in this order. Jiffy bag has torn in transit and the Royal Mail have rebagged it. Most seem very battered and dented as they have come loose in the bag. Can you advise the best resolution please? Many thanks! Phil

7dayshop reply : please return these batteries to us so we can get this issue sorted for you
kind regards

Your post : Hi! I returned these to you straight away (i.e. well over a week ago) so you should have received them by now. Can you update me on what is happening please? Many thanks! Phil

7dayshop reply : we received these back and refunded you on 1/10/04.
Regards

Your post : Thanks! I didn't want a refund though. Can you fulfil the order please?

7dayshop reply : sorry not possible. You need to reorder online
kind regards

Your post : And how do I manage that without paying postage again? I didn't order damaged goods did I? What can you do? I will gladly re-order, but I don't see why I should be penalised because you didn't pack the parcel with adequate protection.

7dayshop reply : we are sorry for the inconvenience, but we cannot offer you free post and packaging. You were refunded for the damaged items.

So, they refunded me the unit cost of the items and no more - and I have now got out of my pram! Is asking for a small concession - i.e. free P&P - too much here? Even if legit, I don't think it ranks as good customer service. I guess if you believe a company offers a good all round service, it rankles even harder when they don't.

After seeing some posts about their customs charges and workarounds they made in August I am hoping they are not on the turn/feeling the pinch, finally, as in the past I have always found them very good. Can hardly remember the last time I had a problem with them though, which cuts both ways I suppose...

There we go, rant over, thanks!

Phil ;)

Just an update on this - after re-ordering and asking again they finally agreed to refund my P&P (this has gone up to £2.95 standard now). Yay! So, feeling a little bit better about them again now!

    And relax...

    Phil ;)

The only good thing about 7dayshop is there prices. They are slow at delivering,no problem there if you don't require stuff in a rush, I got used to that part. But if you have an enquire they either ignore your emails or are very brief as you response clearer shows.

They are very much like the Jersey equivalent of Ebuyer.

No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you
