Hi,
I am 27, I live with my brother and we split the rent of 650 p/m between us, he is working full time for the NMW and I am on Universal Credit. I have applied for an apprenticeship in Floristry (NVQ Lvl 2) the pay will only be £146 per week, I will be about £100 p/m worse off but it's something I have always wanted to do and I am going for an interview tomorrow.
I know I will need some financial assistance because I need to travel 10 miles out of town and I still need to pay for food, gas, electric, travel and rent my brothers income is also swallowed up by the same
Is there any help or grants for people who chose to do an apprenticeship at my age? I have asked my job centre advisor but she hasn't gotten back to me.
Thanks in advance.

Use the calculator on the turn to us website, regardless of your age, because of your income, you may be entitled to help with costs, so put your details into it and it should give you an idea of what you will get from UC on top of your wage.0

Hi,
I have done that but it says my entitlement is £0.00. Maybe I have done something wrong on it or my brothers income is affecting mine.
My jobcentre advisor responded and she said that I willl still be entitled to universal credit it will be reduced by around £400 but I will be about £200 a month better off than i am now.0 -

No good being passive. Get back to her and ask again, assuming she's had a reasonable time to deal with your query (it is peak holiday period).Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0
