Amazon M'place: they cancelled order, no stock(?) - but item is up for sale again!

[Original thread title (now edited): Amazon Marketplace: they cancelled order, no refund - & item is up for sale again!]
I ordered something from an Amazon Marketplace seller yesterday (21/11).
Few hours later I receive an email (automated by the sounds of it) from the seller that they are unable to despatch the item (no specific reason given), & will arrange for a refund with Amazon.
The trouble is I haven't received this refund yet (OK, may be too early to panic), & the item is back up for sale again by the same seller a few hours later!!
If I bought it, & it's not available how can they put up another for sale a few hours later
. What in the world is going on?! I've contacted the seller about it all but have had no response so far.
I'm hoping someone who sells regularly on Amazon will be able to throw some light on the matter. G

Who did the email come from the seller or Amazon?
The reason I ask is I have had to buyers yesterday claim Amazon told them I was out of stock and when i confirmed the order with the buyer they said that they had since bought elswhere ...so I am confused too.
So it might not be the seller at fault.
I suggest you email the seller and ask if they have the item to send or if not you require a refund. You might even find its on the way so try your best to contact the seller before taking any other action.
Good luck.0 -
Thanks for the reply Hintza.
Most importantly I got the refund now.
The cancellation email was from the seller.
They are still selling that item, so supposedly it's in stock but they won't sell it to me (for whatever reason).
Anyway their reply was 5 words long saying that a 'refund was initiated', but didn't reply to my specific queries why they still have it up for sale. G
P.S. I've now changed the title of my initial post removing 'no refund'0 -
Goofy,
the only reason I can think of a seller choosing not to sell to you is that your postal address is outside the scope of their delivery costs. IE. if it was an electrical orheavy/large item requiring courier delivery and you lived for example in the isle of man or isle of white, or highlands & islands (basically anyone outside of the mainland). Though if this was the case, they should have informed you of this and offered an option of a refund or paying a delivery surcharge. They should really be advertising this on the listing or in their comments though. Very interested to know what the item was and who was the seller too!
But with this communication I'd definitely be giving them a 1/5 feedback, which may get you more of a response as they grovel for you to remove it.
Hope thats of some help to you anyway.Do You Twitter?

Thanks rare_stuff.
The item was a DVD to be delivered to mainland UK (sorry, I cannot reveal who the seller was).
Left a 2/5 rating - was pleased they refunded me in 1-2 days, hence the one extra star. Left some factual comments about what had happened, & that I wouldn't be buying from them again.
I doubt they'll lose too much sleep over the negative rating - they are hardened business sellers with 50-100K transactions. My feedback has already gone to page 3-4 within a few hours!
I was concerned at first because some people said that they weren't refunded for weeks, which could be a lie. Or, they've mended their ways.
Incidentally, I've since managed to find the particular DVD on another retail site for <70% delivered

I cocked up one time and listed an item in error (got model number wrong). Contacted buyer and grovelled a lot offered a discount if the bought something else. They didn't reply and I refunded within 48 hours since I hadn't heard from them. Needless to say I got a negm but the bit that hacked me off was they claimed it took over 10 days which I thought was bit spiteful especially since they didn't even talk to me..
However I guess that it could have taken that time to make its way back into their account.0 -
i had the same thing, the seller waited 3 weeks before they refunded me though, and even though they had several emails from me they replied to none !!
Cant see how they get away this though, they had an a-z claim from me and pages of 1/5 but as they get so many positives its all lost

mishkanorman, didn't you complain to Amazon? Or, is there some 'cooling off' period before you can actually file a claim?
The only reason I occasionally take a risk with the marketplace sellers is the faith I have that Amazon will sort it out quickly if something goes wrong. G0
