Critical illness cover taken out in maiden name not married name - will they pay out?

Having being diagnosed with a brain tumour, I wan to claim on my critical illness cover.
I married in 2014 and took out the policy in 2015 in my maiden name - as this is what was on the mortgage also at the time.
My treatment is being done in my married name, so all the paperwork from the consultant etc will be in my married name.
Will my policy be void as I didn't take it out in my married name, but instead my maiden name? All my other particulars are the same - DOB, address and first name.

We married in Vegas and marriage cert has my maiden name on it 6 months prior to taking out the policy. Will this be classed as something 'undisclosed'?

I could really do with some luck right now, and if this doesn't pay out because of this, I'm going to be even more stressed.

I don't see how the policy could be void. It's still you! Many people use their maiden name professionally, and married name domestically.
    Celebrities simply make up names.

Provide a copy of your marriage certificate to the insurer then all your data matches up.

I'd love to see a FOS adjudication on an insurer attempting to avoid paying a claim for what you describe.

Hi, as has been said - provide the insurer with a marriage certificate and an explanation as you have provided here and I can't see how there would be an issue.

It would only be classed as non-disclosure if it was something materially relevant to the policy (either the cover given, or the premium charged). Name has no relevance to either of these.

The insurance company will of course contact your oncologist, so just make sure your oncologist knows these little details (which as others have pointed out should just be a minor detail) - mine and her support staff were (and still are) fantastic at dealing with this kind of stuff. Also if you've not already done so, talk to your local cancer charity who may have financial advice on both means tested & non-means tested benefits

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
