Starting to drive again after 5 years- had 9+ NCB

When I stopped driving I had over 9 years no claims bonus. Technically that goes away after 2 years. I only stopped due to the expense, and the fact my job and my main supermarket were both in walking distance of my home. I'm unemployed now, and missing opportunities due to "own transport needed". Is there any company that is likely to take it into account and give me a good rate, obviously anything I can find on comparison site will treat me as 0 years NCB.

The long and the short of it is that you won't get 9 years NCD. The best you can hope for is an introductory discount, probably no more than 30%. Do you have a local broker who can negotiate a deal for you?0

Do you have a local broker who can negotiate a deal for you?
No, I have no idea what that is or how do get one, but if it costs me money upfront I have no interest in hiring one.0 -
So does anybody have a recommendation of a particular company that may be able to offer a better deal than 0 NCB? Obviously price comparison sites will be useless and there's just too many companies to just keep ringing.0

Most brokers don’t charge upfront fees worth having a look at your local ones on either google or the yellow pages but avoid SwintonsFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
Why are comparison sites useless?
If you want personal service use a broker (no upfront fees).
Try yellow pages or google. There should be one on the high st.0 -
NCB helps keep the price down but a % discount on expensive insurance will still be expensive. Start with the comparison sites then try a broker.0
