Can't Cancel My Insurance - Help!!

I had an accident over 4 months ago now, which was the other party's fault and they admitted it was their fault.
It took ERS Insurance 3 weeks to pay my money and they did not pay me what my car was worth. I had a glasses valuation and felt I had no choice but to accept because they provided me with their own glasses valuation.
I had my payment from ERS and wanted to cancel my insurance. When phoned my insurance broker, they said that becuase the 3rd pary had not settled the payment with ERS, the case was still open and that I am liable to pay my monthly payments until the case is closed.
I am now paying £75 per month until the case is settled, which is now going to court. I have been paying them £75 per month for over 4 months now! I am paying insurance for my current car and I am on statutory maternity pay for one more moth only.
I appreciate things take time and I have been patient but surely this is ridiculous now. I have to keep paying them and my current insurance and the accident was not my fault. I feel like im being penalised and have done what I can to ask ERS to help me finalise things.
The most recent correspondence from ERS says that the third party insurance, Alliance, are looking into appointing solicitors. Surely it doesn’t take this long because these larger companies have solicitors working for them. I can see this is going to carry on for some time and I feel frustrated because there is nothing I can do to resolve the matter.
Am I legally liable to continue paying my insurance broker or can I inform them that I’m canceling my insurance payments and stop the monthly direct debit?
Any help please. Thank you

You always have to pay in full if you make a claim (Just for the year, not till it's all closed off) - If it is going to court then this will take months not weeks to resolve!
Check your policy wording on what happens when cancelling after a claim has been made
Most insurers take the balance owed from the settlement!
If you stop paying now expect them to pursue you
If you want to move to a different insurer why not wait till your policy year ends?0
