Travel Insurance - Laptops & Cameras

Been looking around for quotes for travel insurance and I am having one big problem.

One of my main concerns is that I wish to take my laptop and my digital camera. Yet I'm unable to find an insurer that will pay out more than £250 for any single lost item. Both my camera and my laptop are worth way in excess of this.

Surely i can't be unique in wishing to take these 2 items away with me ?

If you have a house contents policy a good one will often cover items temporarily removed from the home, such as when you are on holiday. If you have such a policy but it does not offer this cover, contact your insurer to see if it can be extended to include it.

Otherwise, try a broker who will have knowledge of insurers that cover high value items.

Also have you tried MoneySupermarket for travel insurance as they search numerous companies offering differing levels of cover.

Travel insurance is essentially medical insurance with a few add-ons; if your home contents doesn't explicitly cover the items you should consider getting cover from specialist insurers - Pavilion insurance is one to look at.

get your camera and laptop insured separately - I use photoguard and can cover my laptop and camera for all european travel (and limited worldwide travel).

Then get normal travel insurance for everything else.
