Tree marked for felling landed on my car

I was parked on Forestry Commission land, right by the entrance to the woods.
A tree fell just as I was walking away from the car. It has damaged the roof, side panels, boot. It is still driveable, my car isn’t worth a lot probably only £1200 max, so it will be written off.
Forestry Commission tell me I have to go through my insurance, but if I do that I will be penalised for the next 5 years, even though it wasn’t my fault.
Can anyone help with some advice?

If they won't play ball with you and you think they are liable then consider using a solicitor or claim handler to deal with this if you don't want to claim off your insurance
Or if you are sure you will win pursue your own court claim. You pay all court costs up front and only get these paid back by the FC if you win
(You breach your insurance conditions by not reporting this incident to them)0 -
I don't think your premiums would rise significantly. I claimed for damage to my car on my policy for car and (own) property damage - nobody else involved, and quite honestly any increase was barely noticeable. I know it's classed as an at fault claim but you would probably find it won't make much difference.
Anyway, its the FC you should be claiming against - contact your insurers and they'll deal with the claim against the FC's insurers.0
