Travel Insurance

Hi guys,
First time posting so any advice is appreciated - we are travelling to London from Northern Ireland in September 2019 for a family break. Now I know we will be covered medically through the NHS as we are all British Citizens but should we take out Travel Insurance to cover us for luggage, flight delays etc? Is it needed when traveling within the UK?

Thanks

Travel insurance is generally an inexpensive, sensible precaution, but it's up to you.

There's a specific forum for insurance here on MSE. You've posted in the Credit Cards section.
  • Apologies - as I said first time posting so getting used to how it works. Will try and find the insurance thread now. Apologies again.

Probably not worth posting again, zx81 has told you pretty much all you need to know, the only thing I would add is to check whether you already have travel insurance with any bank accounts you have. I should also point out that your contents insurance may cover items out of the home anyway.

If you are still reading this thread, then please do get travel insurance (now). If one of you fell ill and couldn't travel, or if there was a road accident/breakdown that stopped you from getting to the airport, you might be glad of the cover - obviously check that such things are covered by any policy you do get.

I have a nationwide bank account, it costs £13 a month but i get travel insurance, it is only a month at a time but in theory you can go away for a month, come back for a day go away again and so on, you can also extend it
