Motor insurer does not allow driving abroad for more than X days no matter additional insurance

Hi,
My UK motor insurance provider says it'll only provide EU (and several other countries) third-party cover for up to 30 days per trip, up to 90 days per policy period. I'm OK to buy separate third-party insurance (Green Card) that allows for more days and more countries as I want to travel to EU and non-EU countries (all signatories to Green Card agreement) and probably for more than 30 days at a time. My UK motor insurance provider says on the phone if I do so it'll invalidate my UK motor insurance policy, it will be cancelled on my return.
Policy wording specifies two things separately:
And in an unrelated section
Could anyone tell me if they really can do so? If yes, is there anything I could likely propose them to change their decision? E. g. I'm OK to check the car is still OK after my return and provide them this check so that they'd be sure I will not fraud them for damages that happened abroad. It seems strange to me. I only need third-party cover abroad, I can buy suitable one from another provider, I cannot claim anything from my main UK insurance for being abroad more than 30 days, but they want to invalidate my UK policy for it bearing no risk. Am I missing anything?
Thanks for all the help!

Endorsement 02 – Territorial Extension
Minimum cover (as required by the laws of the country applicable) will apply to allow the use
of Your Car in any country which is a member of the EU, plus Andorra, Croatia, Faroe Islands,
Gibraltar, Monaco, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, San Marino and Switzerland. A Green Card
is not necessary for travel in these countries and Your Certificate of Motor Insurance provides
proof of cover required to travel in these countries. Minimum cover applies for trips of no
more than 30 days per trip up to a maximum of 90 days per Policy period. Upon payment of
additional premium by the Policyholder, the territorial limits of the Policy will be extended to
include those countries specified and agreed to by the company for the period stated.
