Hi all
New here need advice, received last wage from my old employer today, they deducted holiday dates from me as i had more days off then what i had earned no problem with this, i did say before hand that i understood it would happen.
Now i check my payslip and a further 200 has been deducted called 'unpaid absence' when questioned i was told it was for the 2 months back when i had 2 sick days, they usually pay me for them but this is from a previous month's pay.
And they said i was told and i agreed verbally to them.deducting these from my wage? Funny thing is this meeting must of happened when i wasn't there because i don't remember having it, i can't.be bothered fighting it because it's my word against one of the owners and the owners partner is clearly.going to side with him. But the fact they treat there staff like dirt i want to try take it further, if it's not worth it I'll just leave it.
Just to add worked there 4 years never had a contract never had staff handbook
Many thanks

If you want the £200 you'll have to go to small claims court0 -
Did you receive full occupational sick pay? If not, then with 3 waiting days for SSP, it would be correct to have no pay for the 2 days you were off sick0
-
Couldn't say never had a contract, never got a staff handbook, was always full paid when i was off sick.
But the main point is my sick was in April so i had already been paid for them days, now move forward a month and they have no deducted the pay as i have now left0 -
Maybe the dates in April were to late to be stopped, for example if time off was to close to payroll cut off date.
A company can change their mind - last September I know someone who worked themselves up so much their employer kindly sent them home at the time for rest of day - when they actually left 5 weeks or so later following melt down, the employer then put it through their last and Nov's payroll as holiday (understandably). No different to sales people having their bonus/commission stopped when choosing to leave because it's 'at the company's discretion'. Sorry.0
