Pay from Employer

Afternoon everyone. Hope someone is able to advise.

I get paid by my employer on the 28th of each month. As I Bank with Barclays if the 28th ever falls on a Monday I see the funds in my account at 00:01 on the Saturday prior.

I'm due to be paid on Tuesday of next week. With Monday being a Bank Holiday does anyone know if I can expect to be paid at 00:01 tomorrow as Tuesday is the 1st working day of next week?

    It's impossible to say.

It depends entirely on when payment is released by your employer.
  • Thanks comms69 the payment has already been released by my employer so its all in the bank I guess.

In future, asking your payroll people (or HR department if you have one) should get you an instant and accurate answer. It's pure guesswork on here, without any facts to go on.

BACS has a three day payment cycle. The very earliest it could ever be in your account is day two as that’s when it’s allocated against the account ready for payment. So, when did they release it?
  • I would imagine because next Tuesday is the 28th, the date you are due to get paid it will go in then too.

My Barclays works in exactly the same way too - it's always a nice surprise to find my pay there early!

However, you're due to be paid on the 28th, so I would imagine it would go in on that exact day with it being a standard working day. Can't be certain though!

Just because it shows online on a Saturday when the payment day is a Monday does not mean it is considered "in" your account that day (the Saturday) unless it has the Saturday date actually attached to it.

Though Barclays branches may be open on a Saturday, do they count it as a working day? You could ask them.

NatWest used to do this and I’m sure from memory that tuesday’s money would appear on the Saturday. Don’t bank on it but if it’s there then it’s a nice surprise
