Samsung fridge ext warranty

Situation is i bought a Samsung American fridge freezer £1100 in Oct 2016 which came with a 5 year ext warranty. Bought from Peter Tyson Online, delivered and has been going strong since.
Fridge was completely dead when returned home last Fri. Upon calling samsung they advised that because i didnt reigster my warranty within 90 days and fridge is a little over 2 years they will not cover repair. I have original receipts obviously but still they are not interested, stateing it is not our policy. Seems like an easy way to wriggle out of a great selling point.
I have Samsung approved engineer booked out for next week, with me footing the cost.
I obviously missed that i had to register product to activate warranty.Please anyone some advise would be great, do i have any chance arguing the case and how.

Samsung can attach any terms and conditions to the warranty and if you haven't complied with them then basically that's it as far as warranty goes.

This does not affect your statutory rights however but you will need to get the engineer to report it is an inherent fault that caused it to stop working.

As above, you have rights with the retailer but not with Samsung if their terms state you need to register in a certain amount of time.
