Product no longer meets compliance

Last year I bought a product as a re-seller for a customer which also met government compliance. The product auto renewed this year for a second year and I have had no communication from the company in the past year (this is the only product I buy from them).
After contacting them regarding another matter, I have been indirectly informed that due to a change in government policy last year, that the product we have is now no longer compliant.
At no point did the company contact me to tell me the product no longer meets compliance before or after the product was renewed, so I feel I have been misled into supplying something that both myself and my customer thought was still compliant (as it was originally).
Does anyone know where this one stands?

Hard to say without seeing your contract. I presume from what you say that you're acting as a business, in which case you don't have any consumer rights - and are probably deemed capable of keeping up to date with compliance requirements.0

You are a business, so should be keeping up with changes in legislation and compliance issues which affect your business. Due diligence,.
The only possible issue would be if your supplier was still marking them as being compliant when they are not, as that would be false advertisement from them, but if they have removed that claim then they havent done anything wrong.0 -
Yep, as above - you're a business and you're expected to keep on top of compliance issues and making sure products you stock are indeed compliant.
They don't have to keep everyone posted, it is your job.
Doesn't matter if you're a 1 man band of a multi-national, unfortunately!0 -
I just love it how everyone on this forum is so toxic as to always presume and blame the person posting they are in the wrong and have done wrong to make them feel bad.
This is not the case. I bought a product which promised full compliance. It was the main selling point of the product.
I knew about changes but expected the company to contact me if the the product would no longer meet the full compliance.
Are you saying it is totally my responsibility to contact the company every time a change is made by the government to check that the product is still fully compliant, rather than the company contact me and say "you know that product you bought from us that we told you is fully compliant. Well, its not any more so you will need to do x, x and x yourself now in order to continue to meet full compliance".0 -
Yes it is 100% your responsibility because you are acting in the course of business. If you were a consumer you would have further protections but you are not so you don't have the protections.0

You made this purchase as a business.
Therefore, you have no Consumer Rights with regards to this transaction, sorry0 -
With the first thing in two replies with people telling me "what I should be doing" rather than what I asked. Replies could have been worded better if no offence was meant.0
