Refund for a vctc course

Hi , I’m new today and do not know if I’m in the right area . Apologies if I am .

My daughter wants to be a make up artist and wanted to do a 12 week course at a make up academy. I had my concerns before I went ahead as this course cost £1200 .
I have so far paid £600 and she’s 4 weeks in .
I now realise that this course isn’t worth the money as the tutor is signing her off on modules such as health and safety as completed when she hasn’t been taught them .
I have also realised in the last 4 weeks that she is missing a lot of what is meant to be taught ,e.g face shapes , different ethnicities, skin conditions etc .
I contacted the tutor and said I’m not letting my daughter return as I don’t think anybody in 12 weeks could learn such a complex course ( in terms of skin conditions , bridal make up etc ) to be employable in the real world ! I asked for a refund which has been refused and been told I still owe the rest of the course fees .
Could anybody tell me where I stand . Any info would be appreciated.
( I can’t seem to find terms and conditions on their website but surely I’m entitled to my money back )

You surely wouldn't be, just for a change of mind. The remaining fees will also be due.

You'll need to prove they're not providing what was promised. It's likely then, if you have a case, you'll need to go through small claims court.

    How did you pay?

Who signed the course agreement? You or your daughter? They will be the party responsible for paying the remaining fees/ able to go to small claims court to attempt a refund.

What qualifications or experience do you have in professional make up that you can assess whether the course being provided meets the description givern that you are not the one attending the course?

With all due respect, you knew the course length at the time you agreed your daughter could undertake the course. Common sense should have told you both that twelve weeks is never going to give her all the knowledge and skills she needs for a career in this competitive field - something which you (and indeed she) should have been able to work out before the course ever started.

If you withdraw your daughter, you're shooting yourself in the foot and will have no grounds for any sort of refund (and yes, you will be liable for the rest of the fees). She has only completed a few weeks of a 3 months course, so why not let her continue and then, if at the end the promised goals have not been met, you will have stronger grounds for a possible complaint.
