Credit Card "Administration" Fee

Hi,

I recently renewed my season ticket for my football club via credit card & had a £4 Administration Fee added which i didn't give much thought to at the time.

I paid a total of £324 made up of £320 ticket & £4 Fee

However my friend renewed his the same day via a debit card & was only charged £320. It said "your transaction includes a £4 Transaction fee"

Can you be charged for using a credit card rather than a debit card these days as I can't see what else the £4 would be for

Thanks in advance

No. Any fee should be charged equally on all payment methods.

The ban on surcharges does not apply to commercial debit or credit cards.

If his says £320 and includes a £4 fee. then his ticket cost £316. Do you have a slightly better seat? or should they be charged the same? I would ask a few more supporters.

    Thanks for responses

To clarify, the tickets in that part of the ground are all £320

Another friend was charged the £4 but again using credit card.

    Or....calm down. Breathe. Relax.
Call your club and tell them they are no longer allowed to charge a fee for personal credit cards. See what they say / do. If they refuse to change their policy then, at that point report them to trading standards.

Is it feasible to raise a S75 complaint with the card issuer to dispute the £4?

You can raise this and if your claim is successful you could be effectively forfeiting the ticket though as the club may sell the seat elsewhere.

Why? I specifically said the dispute would be for the £4 charge, not for the cost of the ticket itself.

Why would s75 be relevant here? The OP has the ticket he/she ordered and as far as we're aware the club's matches will be played.
