Hi,
Long story short, a while ago I called up and cancelled an insurance that I decided I did not need before the renewel date. However I have come home (I work away from home) to find I have two letters informing me I owe a lender money for the credit of this premium along with a missed payment fee (they tried to direct debit me at the start of the month but not reconising it I simply cancelled it off and forgot about it). I also have a letter from them, dated a month earlier, regarding signing the credit agreement but I had not signed this.
Now, where do I stand with this? I'm hoping that when I call up and explain the situation that they work with me to get this resolved, but obviously these lenders won't let a penny slip if they can help it.
Because I had not signed or even responded to the credit agreement does that make it nul and void?
Given I had informed the insurance provider I no longer wanted their services where does that stand me?
Do I legally have any liability to pay them?
Bit of an *rse ache situation so any thoughts and advice on this one would be much appreciated!!

Most insurers will record calls so ask them to listen to it to confirm that you did cancel. If necessary you can submit a SAR to get a copy of the recording (I've done this myself and it categorically proved my case).0
