Travel insurance

I went on holiday to Lanzarote last Tuesday and received a call that evening to say our dog was at the vets and really ill/dying. We booked a flight home the next day with Easyjet and that was overbooked ( a whole other story)
Just wondered if anyone has managed to claim on their Travel insurance for curtailment due to pets illness?
Many thanks
Mandy
Ps sadly we had to have our gorgeous dog put to sleep when we returned home 😪😪

Sorry for your loss.
Which insurer are you insured with and what’s the name of the policy?
Was the cause of the sudden illness something you didn’t know about beforehand?0 -
Do you have pet insurance and is there anything on there?
Petplan covers holiday curtailment but only if it's not an existing illness/injury.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

But cover for curtailment due to pets illness at home is not the norm for travel insurance, so check your policy wording to see if you are in fact covered0 -
Some travel policies have clause about pet getting sick 7 days before trip, for example Nationwide. But you were already on holiday, so it will probably not apply. Only pet insurance may work.0

According to this most cover for curtailment I,e, cutting the holiday short.
However the OP does really need to look at the policy or call the insurer.

Well....
That link covers both travel insurance (which rarely covers curtailment due to a pets illness) and pet insurance (which often does have this cover)
The OP is asking about making a claim for curtailment on a travel insurance policy0
