Harry Potter DVD from Tescos

  • I got double the difference on this earlier. I spent way over the £30 (excluding the DVD). No discount was taken off. Apparently, the cashiers have to press a button on the till to take off the discount if you spend enough (which I did). £12 refunded, although the customer services person wasn't very happy about it.

In Tesco they advertise if you spend over £30 you can purchase this DVD for £8. I spent £70 this morning and when I got home and checked my receipt it showed the Harry Potter DVD as £0.01  . So I'm not sure if this is a glitch or have I just missed something :confused: . Either way I am more than happy to pay just £0.01p!!

For the offer to go through on some tills, the till staff have to key in a special code which charges 1p. This then triggers a Harry Potter discount of £6.01 thus reducing the DVD to £8 overall.

(Unless you are simply reading till receipt wrong) it appears that the staff have simply keyed in the code instead of scanning the DVD in error.

    Well done you!

Thanks Mike for the explanation. I've doubled checked my receipt and it looks like that is what the lady must have done as it does only charge me 1p :j .
  • Can somebody explain why some people are getting double the difference refunds? is this something I should know?

There are large blue signs behind each customer service desk advising that if they overcharge you {which they will} you get double the difference back in the remote chance that you do. It's Tesco's licence to rob it's customers.

  • Does anyone know when this offer ends? I ordered my Tesco shop yesterday and had it delivered today and have been charged the full £14 for the HP DVD, just want to make sure I've got my facts straight before I go marching into Tesco for my double the difference refund lol. I can't seem to find an end date anywhere though. Many thanks
