Overdraft - what’s the best option for credit rating?

Options
Good morning,

My husband and I are hoping to get the ball rolling for a mortgage in the next couple of months. We have the money to clear off our overdraft but wanting some advice on whether we’re best to close the overdraft or just pay the money into the account and leave the over draft available? My preference would be to close the overdraft as there will be no temptation to use it, however, I’m concerned this will have a negative affect on the credit files?

Any advice is very much appreciated.

Comments

  • The only negative effect is using the overdraft.

Definitely clear it and if you want to close it then do.

If not leave it open and don’t touch it.
