Flight Cancellation

My Hubbies medium haul flight from a London airport was cancelled two days before hand by the airline- I think because less than half full. The airline did book him on an alternative flight which involved a stop on route (and left from a different LOndon airport!)thereby lengthening the journey but the actual arrival time at the destination was in fact about 1/2 hour earlier. Is he still due compensation for the cancelled flight under the EU rules? Any idaes?
Thanks

Hi lalalal,
No, your husband is not entitled to compensation.
