Able to scan over network but not print

In our small office we run a small wired network that has 4 desktop computers, a network storage device and an Epson all-in-one scanner/printer/fax machine connected.
A few weeks ago I found that I could no longer print from my desktop computer although it still communicates with the machine as I can scan and save the output to my computer and I still get the printer options screen when I try to print. If I do try to print, the document just sits in a print queue for a minute before I get an error and I have to cancel it.
I've reinstalled the Epson software and drivers but it has made no difference.
Has anyone else encountered this kind of problem and found a solution or have any ideas as to what may be causing this to happen?

It could be that the printer has changed IP address. You are able to scan because it is the printer talking to your computer, not vice-versa (unless of course you are starting the scanning process from your computer).
What is exactly the error message? Have you tried to delete the printer and re-install it?0 -
First thing to do is see if you can ping the printer0

Yeah the print/scan sides are 2 separate services, possible to have the wrong IP or wrong workgroup settings.
Goto services and check the printer services and see if its got a username/password under LogOn or whether its a Local System Account.
What about the option to interact with the desktop?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
I have gone through all of the menus on the printer but there appears to be only one IP address which I have pinged successfully.
I'm sure my PC is interacting with it because I initiate the scan and adjust the settings using software on my PC and the resulting scan is then saved as a PDF in My Documents.
I have gone into services and checked the printer services (I'm running XP so it's print spooler) and it is set as a local system account with no log on.
If I try to print a small printer icon appears on the taskbar saying '1 document pending' and if I click on it a window opens telling me the document is printing. It sits there for about 20 seconds before a message pops up from it saying 'this document failed to print', giving me the name of the document followed by the name of the printer it was sent to. I then have to open the window to cancel the document.
We have 2 x Win 7 and 2 x XP machines on the system but mine is the only one that has lost the ability to print and for no apparent reason :huh:0
