Gap advice

Just purchased a brand new car on PCP finance this week. I'm with Direct Line insurance and they offer New Car Replacement for the first 12 months so I know I don't need gap in this instance, however once the 12 months have passed can I then purchase Back to Invoice Gap policy to cover the 3 remaining years of the finance term or do I have to do this earlier? Any advice welcome please.
Can anyone help me with giving some advice on my post pretty please

Just had an email from my old gap insurer stating that you can only buy GAP insurance on a new car within 90 days of taking delivery? So think the MSE website should be updated to state this clause as I for one was going to take a GAP policy after 11 months making the most of the 12 month new car replacement policies offered by insurance companies.0
