LG Screen Still Under Warranty But LG Say its only Under 30 days Warranty

Hi,

I run my own business and last year February 2018, a company installed an LG TV screen in my reception area to display promotional videos and messages about what we do. This company supplied the TV screen and installed it for me. This is what I paid for, the screen, installation and set up.

The screen stopped working before the one year was up, and after contacting the company they advised that I should contact the manufacturer because it is still under warranty. They supplied me with the original sales receipt it was bought with, including purchase date and serial number. The manufacturer was LG Business services.

I emailed LG Business services and they came back to me with the following response "According to the purchased date the unit still falls under 30 days warranty. Please contact the distributor. "

What does this mean? Do I go back to the company who supplied the TV screen and ask them to give me details of who they bought the screen from? I also don;t understand how this falls under 30 days warranty because it's now more than a year?

So, what are my rights as a consumer? Should I be contacting the manufacturer when I didn't purchase the screen myself. I purchased it from a company who supplied the screen as part of a service.

You're not a consumer because it was a business purchase. As I see it you need to call LG again an press the matter under the one year warranty.

LG seem notoriously difficult to deal with. I had a nightmare arranging a phone repair for example. Go back to LG and ask why they suggest it's under 30 day warranty. I suspect their staff have got their dates/years/themselves confused

B2B transaction so this is the wrong place to ask.

Either way I'd say you have no chance. Unless it was sold as having a one year manufacturers warranty you're stuffed. And even if it did your comeback would be against the seller, not the manufacturer.

I'd agree with flashg67 that LG have confused the purchase year, it sounds to me like they think it was purchased in February 2019 and went wrong within 30 days, and that perhaps their contract with the retailer puts the onus on them to resolve problems in that time. I would go back to LG and ensure they know that the purchase was in 2018, and that you believe there is a 1 year warranty offered by LG that you are invoking - do you actually have any paperwork that confirms such a warranty exists, and if so did you comply with any registration requirements?

A 1 year warranty may only apply to domestic use.

Warranty on my (now 16 year old) LG fridge freezer stated clearly, it was covered only for domestic use.
