H&M Missing payments for 6 years.

Hi,
Apolgies if this is in the wrong place.
Last year, I found that H&M had sent my credit account to Avarto. I queried this with b oth sides and was sent back and forth between the two companies. Last June i sent proof of some missing payments and heard nothing since. Last week, after back and forth i decided to escalate to a complaint, which has not been upheld.
As stated in the title, there are over 6 years of regular payments missing to the tune of over £3000, which they are currently searching for and have found some of adding up to over £700. They are not upholding any complaint as they state i was at fault for using an incorect ref number after they updated their system, they have shown me nothing that shows they informed me of this change and as such i do not recall being informed of any change, and i am sure if i had been, details would have been updated.
They have stated they are recalling the debt from Arvarto, and that they will be contacting the credit reference aganecy, but warned me this 'will take time', in the mean time the debt on my credit file remains with this debt collector as does the default with H&M and with the debt collector. This has not been addressed.
The main reason for my writing this is the acrument of interest on my account while all these payments were being missed. Nothing has been said regarding this, apart from by myself, and i have the feeling they do not wish to discuss this, where do i stand here?
Also they have stated that due to all this i have overpaid, yet they are unable to give me details of orders or payments they have, immediately as this needs to be dealt with by another department, who will take time, yet they seem to know enough to know i am owed a refund?Seems a little fishy to me.
I think that is everything. Thank you very much for reading.

This sounds more a debt issue than a consumer rights issue. You are probably better off posting on the Debt Free board found here https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=76
There are some really knowledgeable people when it comes to dealing with debt and debt collectors there.0
