Selling house conveyencer question

Hi all
I am currently selling my house, no purchase, the conveyencers questionnaire is asking for my job title and annual salary. I don't recall this being a question from the solicitor or conveyencer the last time I bought and sold. I would only expect this from the bank or bs.
Are these general questions now? Anyone else some across these? Do I have to answer them? I don't want to provide more information than I have to.
Thanks in advance.

I expect your solicitor has to satisfy (now much stricter) money laundering regs so it may be due to that. If you don't have a job and have say £300k in the bank/under the mattress to buy a house, it may raise a few questions/alarms...2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0

Hi there, thanks, that is what I thought at first but there is no purchase involved and these questions are on their seller questionnaire?0

Ah, didn't take that in :ROLLS EYES: It's been a long day...2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0

I suggest you ask them why they want to know. Not normal requirements anyway.0

ID verificatiom and money laundering rules?
eg what if you'd managed to invest your people-smuggling profits into a property and were now trying to sell it to 'clean' the cash.......
No idea if that's the case, but the hoops you have to jump through seem to get higher every month.
Doesn't stop the Russiam !!!!! etc buying up central london.0 -
So has anyone been asked this question when only selling?
I will ask the conveyencer on monday what the requirement is. I can't find anything about it online.0 -
Wonder if they have referrals to financial advisers and accountants as you are coming into a pot of money?
These questions really don’t have any bearing on any anti money laundering requirements or know your customer requirements that I’m aware of and haven’t been asked for this info whilst selling my house.0 -
They don’t need to ask these and you don’t need to answer them0

I'd hazard a guess that you've been sent a standard form that they use for all clients that they are conveyancing for.
Give them a bell and explain and you may find that they don't actually want or need this information.0
