Overseas Bank Account Shut With Money Inside

Hello,
Really hoping someone can help me! I've got a problem. I'll explain the whole story...
Last year from August 2017-August 2018 I worked in the US on an internship. I've since come home and a few weeks ago completed the process of filling my tax return. This went successfully, and on the Monday just passed I was able to logon to my chase account through the mobile app and see the money (upwards of $300) sat there.
In wanting to transfer the money over to my English account, I then went to logon to the app yesterday only to find it would not let me. It told me to try through a laptop on a browser, which I then tried to do only to discover that when I logged on it said there were no accounts to show, therefore meaning that my account has been closed. I've spoken through email with a chase adviser and they've said the only way to re-open an account is to visit a branch, something which I obviously cannot do as I live in the UK now where my home is.
Two questions:
- They say there is no alternative, but does anyone know if there is something I can do either than visiting the US?
- Are they even within their rights to close my account with that amount of money sat in it?
Would be seriously grateful for any help!
Thank you,
Bayley

Tricky question as any ‘rights’ will be governed by US law - maybe worth asking if they have any affiliate banks in the UK that they could go in to, also note online they appear to have a uk customer help number - could be worth trying that.
Could also be worth looking for a US forum similar to this as someone there may be more in the ‘know’.0 -
We're mostly familiar with UK consumer rights here, you'd be best to find a forum dealing with the relevant state's laws.0
