FWIW I had a pair of akg noise cancelling headphones. These had a battery in the volume part. They were fantastic . I used them on public transport and never heard any bawling babies ..
I damaged the cable unfortunately where the battery goes. Times being hard as they are, I went back to richer sounds a couple of years later and got a pair of akg noise reducing headphones. Cheaper and not bad .
If you are getting noise cancelling headphones , I would recommend the heavy over the ear type . Ones that take a battery would mean more power imho . Trouble is, they are expensive . Good point mentioned above regarding Bluetooth also .

One thing to consider if you are bed , is. Sleepphones. You ear them like a headband in bed . They are not uncomfortable ,and are not expensive . They are wired or Bluetooth also ..

I feel your pain I have upstairs neigbours that play loud music - luckily it's only maybe an hour or so on a Saturday or Sunday, but I did used to have very loud students who threw lots of parties on weekdays!

I would say noise cancelling headphones may work, but if there's vibration coming from the bass then that may be just as annoying as the sound! Maybe ask if they can put something insulating under the bass so it's not resting on the floor. The students above me had a speaker they put on the floor which was what caused the even louder music!
  • Why don't you just tell neighbours to lower bass?. However, any headphones used by gunners can be suitable for you.
